Dvorek.eu
Dvorek.eu is a space for young people who are interested in Europe and things around them and believe that writing about them and discussing them can make sense.
Dvorek.eu encourages young people to express their views on current issues. It gives them the opportunity to publicly present their views, and thus leads them to argumentation and clear formulation of their ideas. Dvorek supports local initiatives which help to identify and deal with the local problems.
Dvorek.eu is an internet portal developed in the cooperation of three participating NGOs: Generation Europe, Center for Community Work (organization supporting the involvement of local communities in decision-making processes at local and national level) and o. s. Egredior (experiential learning, experiential pedagogy). It is built as a professional online magazine dealing with what's happening in Europe and in all its nooks and courtyards. Students, in the role of journalists, publish articles on local issues and their solutions and on various subjects of interest. The role of primary and secondary teachers consists is the motivation of students, their methodological guidance on writing articles, and integrating these activities directly into classes.
Since 2006, Generation Europe organizes regularly a competition for students and teachers in collaboration with Zuzana Roithová. The competition is called Journey to the European Parliament. Students implement in it mini-projects relating to the environmental, consumer and civil problems in their surroundings. Several most successful investigators always win a trip to Belgium and Luxembourg.
In 2008, Dvorek was awarded the European Commission (DG Education and Culture) "Golden Star" as one of the ten best projects in the project period.
